RM of Frontier’s story
The Rural Municipality of Frontier No. 19 sits in the southwest of Saskatchewan, right up against the United States border, with Blaine County, Montana, on the other side. That location gave the municipality its name. The name was chosen in 1912 to reflect its position along the boundary.
The RM incorporated on January 1, 1913. The first Frontier post office opened in 1917, just four miles north of the border. In 1923 the Village of Frontier took its name from the surrounding municipality.
Today the village of Frontier is surrounded by the RM, and the municipal office is located there. The RM also includes the localities of Claydon, Divide, Loomis and Staynor Hall.
